All aboard the movie train for a scenic ride through Ventura County’s beautiful Heritage Valley where the mountains & fruit blossoms will delight your senses & remind you of the way train travel used to be. The Fillmore & Western Railway has been the home of the movie trains ever since it was owned by three major studios & has been featured in over 400 films. You’ll travel in style on board vintage passenger cars & enjoy an included lunch of salad, Orange Blossom chicken, rice pilaf, vegetables & dessert on the way to Santa Paula. Included is a tour of the fascinating Santa Paula Oil Museum which highlights the history & inner workings of California’s “Black Gold Industry”. Re-board the train for a relaxing ride back to Fillmore with a stop at a garden center & gift emporium where you’ll see one-of-a-kind gift items. It’s truly a wonderful way to spend a ‘Spring’ Saturday.
Our first stop will be The Abraham Lincoln Shrine Museum in Redlands. We will have a Docent-led tour to explain ALL the wonderful artifacts concerning this man and all he accomplished. It is here that I saw the Abe Lincoln animatronic, which was just wonderful. I felt that he was actually in the room with me. He will be available on our 2nd stop after lunch at O K Corral O-Y-O. Now, you are in for a treat. You will tour the primary vendor of animatronics for Walt Disney Co., and other entertainment, recreational, dining, shopping, and educational leaders facility. He is a San Bernardino local. Just a few of his clients are Disney (10 theme parks), Universal, MGM, Coca-Cola, McDonald’s, General Motors, Caesar’s Palace, NASA, Nike, Mattel, Lockheed-Martin, and many more. Also, they are supposed to have good ole ABE there too.
Lunch will be at Soup Plantation. It’s gonna be a GREAT DAY!!!
What a great day to be outside and enjoy these sights that are not familiar to us. We visit the San Luis Rey Training Center. A lovely one-mile track and a smaller one and they have 500 stalls where the trainers wish to have a permanent base for their training and racing operations. Today an included lunch is at an authentic southern Italian cuisine restaurant. AMORE! After our delicious lunch let’s go see more beautiful horses! These horses serve a therapeutic service for the physical, mental, and emotional health of disabled children and adults. They learn to not only ride but this helps their disabling conditions. The rhythmic motion and warmth of the horse stimulate and exercises the rider’s muscles, increasing mobility of the pelvis, hip, and spine. The rider experiences weight shift and trunk mobility as if he were walking on his own. What a wonderful experience to see. On the way home, we go the scenic route and hope to see a botanical garden or two. You will enjoy this NEW tour so sign up quickly!
